Takaaki Nakagami made an impressive comeback at the Portimao Grand Prix.

Starting from the back of the grid, the LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider fought his way up to finish in 11th place at the end of the 23-lap race.

After setting the fifth-fastest time in qualifying, Nakagami had a good start and made up three positions during the opening laps. He then pushed hard to move up the field and was in contention for a top-10 finish before the red flag was waved, bringing the race to an early end.

Takaaki Nakagami, #11, said:

“It was a tough race starting from the back of the grid. The traffic was heavy, which made it difficult to find opportunities to overtake. I managed to keep my emotions in check and pick off riders one by one. It’s a shame we couldn’t see the chequered flag due to the red flag, but I’m happy to have finished in 11th place after starting from 22nd. I want to thank my team for their hard work and I look forward to the next race in Valencia.”
